My story

Every ceremony begins with a story. This is mine.

Before becoming a celebrant, my career took me in two very different directions.

I spent many years as a dispensing optician and store manager, where I learnt the importance of listening carefully, building trust, and helping people feel comfortable and understood. Every person who walked through the door had different needs, and taking the time to understand them was always at the heart of what I did.

Later, I moved into marketing, where I discovered just how much I loved creative writing and storytelling. I found real enjoyment in taking ideas, experiences and personalities and turning them into words that felt authentic, meaningful and engaging.

Looking back, those careers prepared me perfectly for celebrancy. One taught me how to truly connect with people; the other taught me how to tell their stories.

Alongside all of that, I've been happily married for over twenty years. Last year my husband and I chose to renew our vows, taking a moment to reflect on everything we've shared, everything we've overcome, and everything that's still to come. It was a reminder that ceremonies aren't simply about marking a milestone, they're about celebrating the journey that brought you there.

That experience strengthened something I'd felt for a long time: I wanted to create those moments for other people.

After completing my celebrant training and becoming fully accredited, I launched Ceremonies by Jade with one simple aim: to create ceremonies that feel personal, relaxed and completely true to the people at the heart of them.

I don't believe there's a “right” way to have a ceremony. Some couples want something elegant and timeless, others want laughter from beginning to end. Some include meaningful rituals, while others keep things beautifully simple. My role is never to fit you into a template, it's to get to know you, understand what matters most, and create a ceremony that feels unmistakably yours.

When I'm not writing ceremonies, you'll usually find me with my nose in a good book, trying another restaurant with my husband, walking the dog along the Kent coastline, or spending time with our two daughters. Those simple moments remind me every day that it's the people we share life with who make it meaningful.

For me, celebrancy is about more than writing beautiful words. It's about making people feel seen, heard and celebrated. It's about creating a moment that feels effortless because it's been thoughtfully crafted around you.

Every ceremony I write is unique. Every story is told with care. Every word is chosen because it belongs to you.

I'd be honoured to tell yours.

The best ceremonies don't sound rehearsed. They sound like the couple at the heart of them.
